Explanations

Imagine a giant star exploding and its core getting squished into a ball only as big as a city – that's the Crab Pulsar! It sits inside the Crab Nebula, a beautiful cloud of gas and dust left over from that explosion. Here's the crazy part: it spins 30 times every second! With each spin, it sends out a beam of light, like a cosmic lighthouse. The explosion was seen almost 1,000 years ago by astronomers in China and Japan – they spotted a new star in the sky that was even visible during the day!
