Mountain Gorilla

The mountain gorilla is the biggest ape in the world – a true gentle giant! The males are called silverbacks because their backs turn silvery-gray as they get older. They live in families high up in the mountains of Africa and love eating leaves, stems, and fruits. Gorillas are very smart and can even use tools. There are only about 1,000 left – that's why they're very specially protected.
