European Hedgehog

The hedgehog is a small animal with thousands of spines on its back – about 5,000 to 7,000! When it's scared, it rolls into a spiky ball to protect itself. Hedgehogs come out at night and love eating beetles, snails, and worms. In winter, they go into a deep sleep called hibernation – sometimes from November all the way to March!
